A young family had recently finished renovations to their house and asked Grounded to improve the rear yard with a custom pool, terrace and pool house. Grounded worked with the sloping rear yard to create three separate spaces here: an upper pool terrace for the adults, a lower terrace adjacent to the water for dining and lounging, and a mid-level play lawn for soccer games and children's play.

Herringbone brick, sandstone and bluestone paving tie the site with interior colors and textures. A simple planting palette of hydrangea, boxwood and crape myrtle mediate between the existing woods and the new construction. The terrace and pool were completed over the summer of 2017 and planting was installed in the fall.
