MCLAIN FLATS -ASPEN, COLORADO

Designed for a couple who cherished outdoor time at their mountain vacation home, this project created spaces for public and private recreation. The owners requested a year-round resistance pool for exercise, a spa for relaxing and a dining terrace, an outdoor kitchen and a pizza oven for entertaining. Working these varied elements into a cohesive plan, Grounded designed a large stone terrace for outdoor cooking and entertaining, separated from the private pool and spa by a sculpture garden. A marble sculpture was carefully sited in a serene grove of aspens, bridging the transition from public to private in an elegant manner while providing visual interest from both terraced areas.
