Located on a narrow urban lot in Richmond VA, Grounded was asked to design a a “jewel-box” style garden in conjunction with a new modern row house by Josh McCullar Architects. The clients have a background in art and design and a resulting deep appreciation for landscape and outdoor spaces. The program request included a dining terrace, gardens, parking, and pathways. Grounded was asked to create a carefully orchestrated site where every inch was designed, considered and used, whether with hardscape, planting, or site amenities. The resulting design included a granite stone courtyard for parking, a front sitting terrace to greet neighbors, a private back tree bosque garden, a paved upper dining area and a lower stormwater infiltration garden.
